How Large Does an Oak Tree Get?

By Alerce Environmental

As oak trees mature, they reach incredible dimension within their first 300 years of life.

A mature healthy oak reaches up to 45 meters of height...

...and get up to 45 meters wide.

As they grow to immensely large dimensions, they seek to balance themselves.

That's why they sometimes "drop" a branch. That provides a good stability.

Sometimes they can grow much higher. Oaks are not meant to grow in closed-canopy forests, where they compete for light with other trees. Then they grow taller.
